Her shoulders stiffened.

The Officer looked at her.

Then at the camera.

“Does that cover the fence?”

“Yes.”

The Homeowner answered.

“And this area?”

“Yes.”

The Officer became noticeably calmer.

“Can we see the recording?”

“Right now.”

The Neighbor Woman stepped forward.

“That camera records my yard.”

The Homeowner looked at her.

“No, it doesn’t.”

“Yes, it does.”

The camera faced inward.

Pool.

Patio.

Fence line.

Nothing beyond the fence was visible except tree branches.

The Officer said:

“We’ll look at it.”

The Neighbor Woman shook her head.

“This is ridiculous. I am the victim here.”

The Officer did not respond.

The Homeowner retrieved his phone.

Opened the security application.

The recording loaded.

Timestamp.

Two minutes before the confrontation.

The Officer watched.

The empty backyard appeared first.

The Homeowner rinsing concrete.

Then movement above the fence.

Hands.

Hat.

Head.

Leg.

The Neighbor Woman climbing over.

The Officer looked up.

The Neighbor Woman’s face went pale.

“That doesn’t show why I came.”

“No.”

The Officer said.

“It shows how.”

The video continued.

The woman approached.

Audio captured everything.

Not perfectly.

Enough.

Her voice:

“You ran the pump after ten.”

The argument.

The Homeowner repeatedly telling her to leave.

Then:

“We’re done.”

He turned.

The Neighbor Woman grabbed him.

Clear.

Both hands eventually on his shirt.

The Officer watched without expression.

The Homeowner removing her wrist.

Releasing immediately.

Backing away.

Then the police arrival.

The Officer stopped the video.

Silence.

The Neighbor Woman spoke first.

“He edited it.”

The Homeowner stared.

The Officer looked toward her.

“What?”

“He edited that.”

The Homeowner actually laughed.

He could not help it.

The Officer did not.

“Sir, please.”

The Homeowner nodded.

The Neighbor Woman continued.

“I don’t know what he did, but that is not accurate.”

The Officer looked at the timestamp.

Then at the continuous recording.

“Ma’am.”

“He provoked me before the recording.”

The Homeowner said:

“The recording starts twenty minutes before you arrived.”

She looked at him with hatred.
