The Black Homeowner crossed his arms.

The President looked at him.

He said nothing.

That seemed to anger her more.

The Tow Driver operated the controls.

The pickup descended.

The tires touched concrete.

The chain loosened.

The Black Homeowner watched carefully as the second worker removed the hardware.

The President began pacing.

“This is ridiculous.”

Nobody answered.

“I have never dealt with such incompetence.”

Still nothing.

She turned toward the Tow Driver.

“You will be hearing from the board.”

The Tow Driver removed his gloves.

“Please have the board call dispatch.”

“I am the board President.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“That means something.”

The Tow Driver looked at the fake work order.

“I’m sure it does.”

The Black Homeowner almost smiled.

The President saw it.

“This is not funny.”

“No.”

He pointed toward the paper.

“It really isn’t.”

She folded it quickly.

He said, “Actually, don’t do that.”

The President froze.

“What?”

“Don’t destroy or alter that document.”

Her expression sharpened.

“You don’t tell me what to do.”

The homeowner looked toward the Tow Driver.

“Can I get a copy?”

The President snapped, “No.”

The Tow Driver answered at the same time.

“Yes.”

She turned.

“You cannot give him association documents.”

The Tow Driver frowned.

“You gave this to my company.”

He pulled out his phone.

“I’m taking a photo for our incident report.”

The President reached toward the paper.

The Tow Driver stepped back.

“Don’t.”

That single word stopped her.

Not loud.

Professional.

Firm.

The President’s hand remained suspended for half a second.

Then dropped.

Neighbors had begun coming outside.

A man across the street stood near his mailbox.

A woman farther down watched from her porch.

Someone was holding a phone.

The HOA President noticed.

Her posture changed instantly.

She straightened.

Smoothed her orange jacket.

Then turned toward the Black Homeowner with a controlled expression.

“This misunderstanding could have been avoided if you had complied with the parking request.”

The Black Homeowner stared.

“Misunderstanding?”

“You were sent notices.”

“You tried to tow my truck with a fake order.”

The neighbors became quieter.

The President’s eyes widened.

“Do not accuse me of fraud.”

He pointed toward the Tow Driver.

“I didn’t make the order number disappear.”

“You do not understand association procedure.”

“Then explain it.”

She said nothing.

The Black Homeowner continued.

“Show me the meeting minutes where this parking rule was adopted.”

Silence.

“Show me the board vote authorizing a tow.”

Nothing.

“Show me the section allowing you to enter my driveway.”

Her jaw tightened.

“You will receive documentation through proper channels.”

The homeowner nodded.

“Good.”

He pulled out his phone.

“Because I’m requesting all of it in writing today.”
