“I checked the cabin timestamp after the incident.”

“Fourteen seconds.”

Amara looked at her.

Good.

Charles’s face reddened.

“That’s not the point.”

Amara said:

“It is exactly the point.”

He stared.

Amara continued.

“You did not respond to sustained disruption.”

“You reacted to an infant existing in a space you decided she did not aesthetically belong.”

Charles said:

“That’s ridiculous.”

“Is it?”

“Yes.”

“Then why did you tell me to take her to the back?”

He had no answer.

Amara continued.

“You didn’t suggest the galley.”

“You didn’t suggest walking her.”

“You said the back.”

Charles looked away.

Amara watched him.

“Why?”

Silence.

“Say it.”

He did not.

Amara nodded.

“That silence is why tomorrow’s review exists.”

Charles froze.

“You already knew?”

“I knew enough to ask questions.”

His face changed.

“What questions?”

Amara looked out the window.

Clouds below.

Sunlight on the wing.

Then back.

“Thirty-seven complaints over twenty-two months.”

Charles said nothing.

“Families removed from premium seating.”

“Passengers repeatedly challenged after valid scans.”

“Children treated as service failures.”

“Complaints reclassified as ‘comfort preferences.’”

Charles interrupted:

“You don’t understand those cases.”

“Then tomorrow is your opportunity to explain.”

His jaw tightened.

Amara continued.

“Today became evidence.”

He looked toward Maya.

Then away.

The aircraft landed at LaGuardia at 1:18 p.m.

By 1:31, the video was online.

Not one video.

Four.

The clearest came from a passenger in row 3C.

It showed Charles leaning over.

Water falling.

Maya jerking awake.

Amara turning around the child.

The scream.

Then Charles dropping the handbag.

The clip ended before the reveal.

That mattered.

The first upload contained no information about Amara’s identity.

Its caption read:

Man pours water on baby in first class while crew freezes.

Within thirty minutes, airline employees identified Charles.

Then journalists did.

By two o’clock, the second video appeared.

The tablet.

The reveal.

Charles’s face changing.

The story exploded.

Amara’s phone had more than one hundred unread messages by the time she entered the terminal.

Her Chief Legal Officer called first.

“Tell me Maya’s okay.”

“She’s okay.”

“Are you?”

“Yes.”

“That video is everywhere.”

“I know.”

“Police?”

Amara stopped walking.

“What?”

“Airport police want to know whether you’re filing a complaint.”

Amara looked at Maya in the stroller.
