Took her hand.
“You scared me.”
The Girl managed a weak smile.
“You’re supposed to say I’m brave.”
“You can be brave and still scare me.”
She looked toward the window.
“Landing was okay.”
The Captain laughed through tears.
“Okay?”
“A little firm.”
The Senior Flight Attendant looked away to hide a smile.
The Captain pressed his forehead against his daughter’s hand for one second.
Then medical responders entered.
He moved aside.
That was harder than landing.
They transferred her carefully.
The Doctor gave the handoff.
Medication.
Reaction.
Timing.
Burn area.
Response.
The Captain listened to every word.
Then followed the stretcher toward the door.
Before leaving, the Girl tugged weakly at his sleeve.
He leaned down.
“What?”
“She did it on purpose.”
The Captain looked at his daughter.
“Who?”
The Girl’s eyes moved toward 12B.
The Captain followed them.
The Wealthy Passenger sat frozen.
Hands folded in her lap.
No longer arrogant.
No longer impatient.
The Captain looked at her.
For a long moment.
The Woman tried to speak.
“I didn’t know—”
The Captain raised one hand.
She stopped.
His voice remained quiet.
“Not now.”
That was all.
Then he turned back toward his daughter and followed the medical team off the aircraft.
The Wealthy Passenger remained seated while everyone else waited.
Nobody spoke to her.
That silence became its own judgment.
Airport security boarded.
Then airline corporate security.
Then local officers.
The Senior Flight Attendant gave a statement.
The Doctor gave one.
Passengers volunteered recordings.
Lots of them.
Different angles.
Different audio.
One video had captured the Wealthy Passenger before she poured the tea.
Clearly.
Her voice:
“Perhaps now you’ll learn…”
Then the cup tilting.
Not an accident.
Not turbulence.
Not a slip.
Deliberate.
The Wealthy Passenger watched security review the first clip.
Her face changed.
“That doesn’t show what happened before.”
The businessman answered:
“I recorded that too.”
She turned.
He held up his phone.
The video started thirty seconds earlier.
The Girl asleep.
Head against the window.
Blanket in her lap.
No confrontation.
No aggression.
No provocation.
The Wealthy Passenger looked away.
The Senior Flight Attendant asked:
“Why did you do it?”
No answer.
“Why?”
The Woman finally whispered:
“She kept bumping me.”
The businessman said:
“She moved once.”
The Woman’s face tightened.
“I paid for my space.”
“So did she.”
The Senior Flight Attendant’s voice was cold.
“And even if she hadn’t, you still don’t pour hot liquid on another passenger.”
The Woman stared at the floor.
Security asked her to stand.
