Patricia pointed.
"Keep your hands where we can see them."
That did it.
Marcus's eyes widened.
Kevin looked up sharply.
Diana froze.
Then slowly withdrew her phone.
She held it between two fingers.
"My phone."
Patricia's face reddened.
"I didn't know what you were reaching for."
"You didn't ask."
Patricia began dialing.
Diana unlocked her own phone.
"Go ahead."
Patricia paused.
Diana's voice was quiet.
"Call them."
Patricia stared.
"But before you do, I'm making one call."
She pressed a contact.
The call connected almost immediately.
"Diana?"
A man's voice.
"Yes."
"Everything okay?"
"Not particularly."
Patricia watched.
Diana continued.
"I'm inside Beverly Hills."
There was a pause.
"The flagship?"
"Yes."
"What happened?"
"The Store Manager has refused service, requested security remove me, and is now threatening to call the police."
The man on the other end became silent.
Then:
"Who is the Manager on duty?"
Diana looked directly at Patricia.
"Patricia Wittmann."
Patricia's face changed.
Not enough.
She still did not understand.
Diana continued.
"Please preserve every camera feed from the last fifteen minutes."
Patricia lowered her phone slightly.
"Who are you talking to?"
Diana ignored her.
"Also lock the inventory system."
Kevin's head snapped up.
Only a very small number of people could authorize that.
Diana ended the call.
Patricia laughed once.
It sounded less confident now.
"Inventory system?"
"Yes."
"You can't lock our inventory system."
Diana looked at Kevin.
"Kevin."
He stiffened.
"Yes?"
"Please call corporate security."
Patricia rolled her eyes.
"Corporate security is not going to take instructions from some customer."
Diana never looked away from Kevin.
"Tell them Diana Mitchell is standing inside the Beverly Hills flagship."
Kevin's face went blank.
Patricia stopped smiling.
Kevin's eyes moved from Diana to the logo embedded in the marble floor.
Then back.
"Diana..."
He swallowed.
"Mitchell?"
"Yes."
Ashley covered her mouth.
Marcus stared.
Patricia looked confused.
Then irritated.
"Why is everyone acting strange?"
Kevin did not answer.
He walked quickly to the internal phone.
Patricia stepped after him.
"What are you doing?"
"Calling corporate."
